I’ve read your brochure and seen your website, how do I arrange a visit?
Give us a call or send us an e-mail to arrange an appointment to discuss your situation and to take a tour of the Home. Although we are happy for people to call unannounced, making an appointment allows us to spend more time with you, answer your questions in more detail and help you make an informed choice about whether Primrose Lodge Weymouth is the right place for you.
What sort of care do you offer?
Primarily, we are a care home for older people which means that we provide personal care.
Do you provide respite care?
Yes, respite and day care is something that we offer to support people who wish to remain in their own home. This helps to give a family member or carer a break from caring responsibilities and can help with a breakdown in care or allow for a holiday. Where a room is available, we are happy to accommodate your request, however, we are unable to cater for advanced bookings as we do not hold a room specifically for respite care.
Will I have a choice of meals?
We recognise that food is a big part of what keeps us happy and healthy so we try to provide an enjoyable, varied and nutritious menu.
I have a special diet, can this be catered for?
Yes, our fully trained chefs are able to meet the requirements of all special dietary needs.
What sort of social activities do you provide?
Our activities are as varied as our residents! Residents are very much a part of the decision making around what activities are offered and our team liaise with residents, staff and family members to arrange events throughout the year. These range from outings and music to exercise and crafts. We encourage hobbies that residents have before coming Primrose Lodge Weymouth to be maintained.
Can my mother bring in her own furniture and bits and pieces, and can she put pictures on the wall?
Yes, we encourage residents to make their room their own, after all, your bedroom door is your front door.
If my care needs increase will I have to leave Primrose Lodge?
We aim to provide a home for life, so that residents and families can work with staff that know them well to meet their end of life wishes when that time comes.
Are there any restrictions on visiting times?
Friends and family are welcome to visit at any time which promotes our ‘home from home’ ethos. This enables our residents to entertain exactly as they would at home.
Can I access the Internet?
Yes, we have a computer available for residents who can also have their own email accounts set up and use Skype to stay connected with friends and relatives.
Is the home able to cater for my religious needs?
Yes, we respect all cultures and religions so individual requirements are catered for.
Can I have my hair set every week?
Yes, a hairdresser is available every week at a small cost to the resident.
Can I have a telephone in my room?
Yes, this is usually discussed on admission. All bills are sent directly to the resident or their family as agreed.
Can I get up and go to bed whenever I want?
Yes, residents are free to go to bed and wake up whenever they would in their own home.
