Situated in the county of Dorset, Weymouth is a seaside town situated on a sheltered bay at the mouth of the River Wey on the English Channel coast. Weymouth is the largest town in Dorset following the unitary authorities of Bournemouth and Poole.
The resort is one of the UK's first modern tourist destinations, after King George III's brother, the Duke of Gloucester built a grand residence there, Gloucester Lodge. Furthermore, the King made Weymouth his summer holiday residence on fourteen occasions between 1789 and 1805.
Weymouth's stunning Georgian seafront offers a superb backdrop to the long arc of fine, golden sand. The views from the bay are impressive, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. Weymouth's beautiful sandy beaches, rich heritage and spectacular coastline make it a firm favourite holiday destination.
